Drone Photography

Not too long ago, I had another episode where I didn’t know what to do with my photography anymore. I did, however, go out and tried some new stuff with my dear friend Sven. And that new stuff was taking photos with a Drone. I liked it so much that I sold one of my cameras and bought a drone. It’s an entry-level one, but flying with it is so much fun.

Rules and regulations

As I’m a compliance kind of guy, I dove deep into rules. regulations and all that comes with flying drones. I even got my Pilot’s License, even when it wasn’t necessary for this drone. I think it’s a good thing to know at least the basics about weather, flight, how to read METAR and even a bit of Privacy came into play. It was a lot to learn but easier than I thought. And, in the end, it was necessary because I upgraded my drone from C0 to C1 to be able to fly higher.

First tries

So now, what to photograph with a Drone. I’ve always been a bit of a ‘ minimalism’ and ‘ patterns’ lover, so I thought I’d stay true to that and shoot some top-down landscapes, and especially border-like stuff. Think shores, parts of land where wood turns to meadows, stuff like that. I’m still finding out a lot about how to properly photograph stuff like that, but I thought I’d share some first tries with you.

Even though there’s still a lot to learn, I like this, and will do it more often. For now, batteries are charging for the next flights.
