A shift in identity

For years, I have identified myself as ‘a photographer’. That’s what this site has always been about. Next to that, I loved writing stories about my ‘being a photographer’. I had a separate blog, Pulse&Void for that.

In the last months, I’ve been doing a lot of soul-searching. I’m still doing that. A lot. And I am slowly concluding that photography is not who I am. I do love photography, but there’s more to me than that. I am not a photographer alone. I’m also a bonus dad, I love to read, I am rediscovering old passions like climbing and wandering. I still love to travel.

Somehow, having a ‘professional photography portfolio’ as this site has always been didn’t feel right anymore. As I’m making changes to my life, I’m also making changes to this website. Getting rid of the old, building something new. Because that is still how I do a lot of things. Burning bridges. Rebuilding. Or building new ones.

As I’m reinventing myself, this site will evolve with me. Photography will never fully disappear. That love will remain. Just as a smaller portion of my life and this website. Because even with my burning bridges, I am also learning that just leaving the bridge, but walking on, is also an option.
